First one is easy as it is wire used in place of a fuse. Second one took some looking but it looks like the mounting stud was broken on the left most pole and a new hole drilled to accomodate a new bolt for the lug. That is my guess. |

Yeah, first one is using wires in place of fuses, but I can't find where that is a code violation. The issue I see is they are vastly undersized compared to the rest of the circuit. They are also using SIMpull Alumaflex wire, might want to make sure the terminals allow that. For Pic #2, it is common convention to use Brown, Orange and Yellow for 480Y/227 Vac wiring, but it is not a Code requirement [but it is for Purdue ![]() |

Here's something that happened to me years ago. I opened a 30 amp 3 pole fused disconnect to see if all the blades were pulled away from the line side. All were. Then I checked for voltage. A phase was still energized even though the blades were clearly disconnected. Taking a closer look, I found a wire jumper from the line to load side AROUND the A phase 30 amp fuse. I guess the fuse was blown and someone could not be bothered to get a new fuse. |
