In 1584-2002, section 5.5 entitled "Flash-protection boundary" provided Equation 8 to calculate DB, "the distance of the boundary from the arcing point (mm)".
One of the inputs to this calculation was EB, "incident energy in J/cm^2 at the boundary distance". A note was also included stating that "EB can be set to 5.0 J/cm^2 for bare skin (no hood) or at the rating of proposed PPE."
I note that the 1584-2018 equations for arc-flash boundary (AFB) do not include an EB input parameter, so my question is...
Does anyone know how one might calculate AFB using the 1584-2018 approach for a given incident energy (i.e. at the rating of proposed PPE, which may well be greater than 5.0 J/cm^2)?
