This new IEC 62606 looks interesting. Anyone have any more information on this?

This appears to be referring to arc fault detectors meant to prevent fires, like US arc fault circuit interrupters. These are not for mitigating arc flash hazards.

Yes, I noticed that after getting a copy of the standard. A little bit disappointed but still interesting. Better late than never I guess.
