Hello everyone I'm wondering if there's any data available that indicates the necessary available fault current, on a 277V system, to blow a hole through the sheathing of a MC cable. Assume worst-case - a bolted fault either between phase/ground or phase/sheathing. If I know that necessary available fault current, I could then conduct a fault current analysis for my particular situation to determine if there's even sufficient current for that to hypothetically occur. |

Agreed with Barry here, I'd start by asking the manufacturer to see if they have any information floating around on that sort of thing. If you get nothing else, you could try to work off of the damage curve or some sort of equivalent fusing curve for the sheathing you have. Damage to the sheath (and cable for that matter) is based on both fault current and time . . . so there may not be a super simple answer. |
