Good day all. Please I was wondering why VCB seems is the default in EasyPower 2025 for most standard distribution equipment such as MCC, SWBD, Panelboards. Please any insight on this board on this. My understanding VCBB can generate more conservative results, and HCB can produce extremely more conservative results. Is the standard of practice stabilizing on VCB? IEEE 1584-2018 has images of all three configs existing in a MCC bucket. |

SKM does this also, but it is incumbent upon the user to change the electrode config as needed. Mike |

Thank you and good to know. Please any clarity on what has become standard practice? Generally default is can signal a standard practice, yet just wanted to see if it was standard practice to keep that default? |

I don't think there is a standard necessarily. It all depends on your installation, and what equipment is present. I know some will take the worse case of VCBB or VCB where applicable/depending on equipment configuration. I have heard (anecdotal, so take it for what it's worth) that HCB could be argued against using, even with draw out breakers for example. I'm not in that camp, but some are. Mike |
