| Post subject: | Electrical Safety Council Issues Safety Advice Following Eastenders Electrical Fire |
The [url='http://www.escweb.org.uk/']Electrical Safety Council (ESC)[/url] is drawing attention to a current Eastenders plot line, to remind the public of the potential dangers of using an unqualified electrician. Around nine million people tuned in to watch [url='http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/']Eastenders[/url] character [url='http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/characters/ronnie-mitchell.shtml']Ronnie Mitchell[/url] use an unqualified electrician to carry out essential electrical work in her nightclub – a move which led to a major electrical fire. Recent research by the ESC indicates that one in three people (32%) admit they are more likely to put off or postpone having electrical work done - or attempt to do the work themselves - in the current financial climate. Phil Buckle, Director General at the Electrical Safety Council explains: “Last week’s fire on Eastenders highlighted the need to respect the power of electricity and the importance of using a registered electrician. This is why it’s so important that the ESC campaigns to improve public knowledge of electrical safety, including information about understanding and complying with Part P.
