Hello! Does anyone have any knowledge of EN166 for rating of face protection. I read that one helmet with integrated visor was rated 12kA/1s 380-400V. What actually does this mean is this numbers possible to convert to cal/cm2 or is this completely something else? Super happy for any answer |

There is not way to convert to cal/cm2 from the voltage and current ratings as there are many other factors. The protection must be tested. Presently IEC TC 78 (I am Chair of the Committee that is responsible for this standard as well as around 40 others) has a Project Team that has been developing what will be 62819 Ed.1.0: Live working - Eye, face and head protectors against the effects of electric arc - Test methods and requirements. It is in the early stages but will eventually provide an international test method. |
