Just a question on The rating of The leather outers for arc flash rating. our work policy says we need to wear 40K gear including gloves but the rating for the outer gloves we are not sure of. they are a salsbury glove outer but to date i could not get an answer on what K rating they are. Dose anyone know the rating? and could anyone sugest some outers that are 40K rated.
Not sure what 40k means. 40 calories/sq sm? While arc raed gloves do exist they generally are bulky and hard to work in, not to mention misapplied due to wrong working distance assumptions. Nothing says they need to be arc rated gloves, leather protectors meet the 70E requirements.
Hugh, a member here, has done a bunch of testing on these, and while they can;t really get a rating because there is not a testing stanard for them, they generally have very high "test results", 60-100 cal/cm2 if I recall.
